Players to wear the green and white of the Hibees.

Here is a growing collection of players and internationalists to feature for Hibernian throughout the years.

Position Winger

Stevenson, a lifelong Hibernian supporter, realised his life ambition to play for the Leith side with over ten years sterling service.

Eric Stevenson Profile

Eric comes from a Hibernian background with his uncle a founder member of the Bonnyrigg Hibernian Supporters Club. Eric signed for Hearts as a schoolboy but a contract irregularity later saw the Tynecastle club fined £150 and manager Tommy Walker £75.

Hibernian, who had been keeping a close watch on the situation, stepped in to contract the player to Easter Road. The deal was to pay long term dividends for both parties as Stevenson, a lifelong Hibernian supporter, realised his life ambition to play for the club and Hibernian reaped the rewards of over ten years sterling service from one of the best players ever to wear the famous green and white shirt.

Equally capable on either wing, Stevenson was usually to be found wearing the number eleven jersey. His mesmerising close ball control consistently bemused the opposing full back. As well as supplying ammunition for a number of centre forwards during his time at Easter Road, Eric also had an eye for goal himself. This was never better demonstrated than when he scored two of Hibernian's goals in a 4-0 defeat of Hearts at Tynecastle in 1965, all four goals scored in the opening ten minutes. His intricate close control also helped him win a number of penalties.

Much admired by Eddie Turnbull who tried to sign the player for Aberdeen, unfortunately personal difficulties saw him move to Ayr United shortly after Turnbull's return to Easter Road as manager in 1971. He ended his playing career almost obscenely premature after only a few months at Ayr, electing to concentrate on his business interests in Bonnyrigg.

Stevenson sadly passed away on 17th May 2017 aged 74 after a battle with stomach cancer.
