Bernard Breslin was born in Carfin (Lanarkshire) circa 1874.
Starting at Carfin Shamrock, ’Pat’ Breslin joined Hibernian in Edinburgh as a teenager in 1893 at a time when the club was getting back on its feet again, and saw the team reach the heights of Scottish football. He won the Scottish Cup in 1902 and the Scottish League a year later, playing at right half and although he was not the quickest of players he had a reputation for vigorous tackle.
He represented Scotland once, in 1897, and played four times for the Scottish League representative team between 1898 and 1900.
Breslin died in November 1913, aged 39.
