A "tough tackler", Duncan Urquhart was signed by Hibernian during the 1929/30 season.

He was part of the Hibernian side that were relegated the following season, but then gained promotion to play top-flight football in season 1933/34.

Duncan won his only cap for Scotland against Wales in a 1933 British Home Championship match, the Welsh emerging victorious 3-2.

In 1935, Urquhart was released by Hibernian following a heavy Edinburgh derby defeat by Hearts. He would then sign for Aberdeen before playing at Barrow.
