Described as the architect of the modern Hibernian, Harry Swan's stewardship of the club which began in 1934, delivered three League Championship flags and entry into the first European Cup competition.

Swan heralded a number of innovations which ensured Hibernian was at the forefront of not just Scottish but British football.

Elected President of the SFA and recognised as a legislator of exceptional ability with amazing foresight, Swan sold Hibernian to William Harrower in 1963 after almost 30 years at the helm. He was unanimously elected a life time director in recognition of his services to, and on behalf of, Hibernian Football Club.
